Convertify's Redact PDF tool performs true content redaction: the selected text and image data is removed from the PDF data structure, not just covered with a black box. Covering text with a black rectangle — a common mistake — leaves the underlying text in the file, extractable by anyone who copies the 'blacked-out' area. True redaction deletes it.
After redacting, the tool also strips PDF metadata (document title, author, creation tool) that might contain identifiable information not visible in the rendered view.

Redaction marks are conventionally black. If you're seeing white, check that the redaction appearance setting is set to 'fill with black' rather than 'remove only'. White areas over white backgrounds are invisible but the content is still removed.
